GRAI publishes Irish market Statement of Strategy 2025-2027

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has published its new Statement of Strategy 2025-2027 today, outlining key strategic improvements for the nation’s gambling industry over the next three years. Indeed, the statement outlines six specific pillars around which this new initiative is centred, as it looks to further enhance the regulatory and licensing structure of the Irish gambling industry. Specifically, the regulator’s initial strategic objective is the designing and implementation of an effective licensing regime – an initiative which has already begun, with public consultation beginning in April and licence guidelines published in July. The second pillar revolves around monitoring and compliance, ensuring best practice within the industry through transparent framework. Elsewhere the GRAI has also specified it will look to ensure robust enforcement measures are put into place to tackle the unregulated landscape. Consumer protection and awareness has also been underlined as a key object for the regulator, which has stated its goal of implementing a centralised national self-exclusion register for the Irish market. The regulator’s final goals are to ensure the correct personnel are put into place to effectively run the market – alongside establishing an ICT function to act as a digital support network of the GRAI. Good to know: Ireland passed its Gambling Regulation Bill in October 2024, with the Gambling Regulation Act established on a statutory bases in March 2025
